Podiatric Surgery
Podiatric Surgeons are podiatrists who have completed additional extensive, post-graduate medical and surgical training, which enables them to perform reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Podiatric Surgery is an approved speciality by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency. In Australia, podiatric surgeons principally operate in private hospitals within a surgical team. Surgery is performed under local or general anaesthesia. Podiatric Surgery is covered by Private health insurance funds however, the level of health fund rebate depends on the fund and level of cover.
